Where do you live?

I live in los angeles, in a community called silverlake. There’s an actual lake, although it’s really a reservoir . This reservoir has a path surrounding it in a beautiful park like setting where  people walk their dogs, jog and enjoy nature year round.

Where do you work?

I freelance at two companies doing technical design work.

pailey-bird-frtWhat’s your favorite place in the world & why?

I love New York.  The vibe,  fashion, flea markets and takashimaya.

More about yourself, business, family…

My grandmother was a business owner during the early sixties – she ran a coffee shop single handedly.  She loved cooking and singing and won many trophies in song festivals wearing her best kimono.

What did you want to be when you ‘grew up’?

I always loved sewing & wanted to be a designer, however there was a short period in which I thought I’d pursue being  a flight attendant.

How did you get into your craft?

I always loved art and started sewing at a young age. My allowance went towards buying fabrics and kept sewing my  own clothes during my high school years.

What do you make?

I’ve made clothing, hand bags & totes, comforters & duvets, kids clothing, kitchen dish cloths, napkins and leather bags & pouches.

lisa-bagWhat are you most proud of making?

I think I’m most proud of making a leather handbag with zig zag stitching, fully lined with a zipper top. Next would be the custom book bag for an etsy alchemy buyer in canada. This bag was made very sturdy, lined with amy butler fabric and finished with a ykk zipper.

What do you like most/least about selling online?

I love the exposure I get selling online and meeting the nicest buyers. It’s really a thrill that they purchase my product based on a photo & description from a indie designer like me. I wish I could meet them, thank them in person & share some stories between us.

I love…

thrift shops,   trims from france, organic veggies & fruits, farmer’s markets, vintage furniture with dove tailing, citrus/herb scented soaps and poha jam.

It drives me crazy…

…when I can’t find a parking spot at my favorite food emporium—trader joe’s

My favourite word is..

natural

If you could sum up your work in one sentence?

mi so happi is a thoughtful, handmade collection of clothing, accessories and kitchen “wear”.
