Down the end of our street lives a HUGE muster (yes, that REALLY IS the collective noun for them) of peacocks. At first thought, that might sound delightful to you. Sure, when I go for a walk or a run I am often regaled with the beauteous colours of the males as they strut around and – at this time of year – the cuteness of all the little baby peacocks running after their mother.
However, they may possibly be the stupidest birds in existence, because I cannot count the number of times I’ve almost run one over – and the horn doesn’t have much of an effect on them. So, you just have to slow the car down while waiting for his or her highness to mosey out of the way. I live in fear of the day I don’t see one in time – I abhor hitting animals while driving. Alas, country life means that it happens once in a while, but hopefully the frustrating yet majestic menagerie of birds down the road will stay safe.
They also make THE loudest noise when they call – have you ever heard a peacock call?
Anyhow, I thought I’d go searching for pretty peacock-related things – and there are no shortage of them out there!
