This week we welcome Sally Miller, from the very successful The Ferris Wheels! Sally makes a range of microwavable hot packs to soothe sore muscles!

Where do you live?

I live in Plant City, FL

Where do you do your work?

My main career is my etsy business :-). Secondarily, I teach one class a day at my childrens’ school (8th grade pre-algebra – yikes!).

What’s your favourite place in the world, and why?

Hmm… favorite place – it’s got to be wherever my family is – honestly, the place doesn’t matter to me 🙂

Tell us a little bit more about yourself! Your ‘day job’ or business, family, hobbies…

Well, like I said, my career is theferriswheels. I have dreams of taking it to the next level, but Etsy keeps me so busy (I can get lost in Etsy for hours – it’s not all work!). I’d love to build the business up enough to pass on to my children some day, if that’s the direction they want to go. I have a wonderful, supportive husband (who has been known to trek to the post office and make spritzers for me when I’m really busy!). Three children, 2 boys 15 and 13yo, and one 9yo girl.

What did you want to be ‘when you grew up’?

I wanted to be an author, and I may get there yet! But, I have forever been making things, so theferriswheels totally fits for me.

How did you first get into your craft/art?

My mom suffered with fibromyalgia for years and used microwave heat packs every day. She just couldn’t find the perfect one that covered her neck, shoulders and upper back (where all her pain was). So, one day, we decided to make one. After several patterns, we came up with our NSB and it took off. Then, I realized I LOVED making things that helped people feel better and I loved making new patterns and new products.

What do you make?

Microwave Heat (and cool) therapy packs of all shapes and sizes. We “Ease Aches and Pains with Comfort and Style” 🙂

What are you most proud of making?

Gosh that’s tough – I’m proud of them all. I think the NSB because there just is not another product on the market (that I can find) that is sewn and works the way it does. Also, I came up with a migraine relief set that uses targeted hot and cold therapy to reduce pounding in the head. I’ve had many many customers tell me that our set has helped when nothing else has – and I can’t begin to say how gratifying that is!

What do you like the most/least about selling your wares online?

I love almost everything about selling on line. I especially love my shop. My pics aren’t perfect, but I’m proud of them. I love seeing everything I’ve created in one place!

I love…

God, my family, my country, my business (I could go on and on…)

It drives me crazy when…

I don’t have time to accomplish everything I’d like to. Oh, and when I’m ready to shut down for the night (around 11:00) and I can’t find a good book that I haven’t yet read in the house!

What’s your favourite word?

Grace (I need so much of it, and it’s also my daughter’s name)

This week you could win your very own scarflette heat pack! Just the thing for a sore neck… (that’s a scarflette on the left of this photo!)
