Flying to Korea

Hello from England! We arrived in the Green Land safely last night, and are slowly adjusting ourselves to the timezone shift. Today I’m sharing a few photos from our journey – the trip from Australia to England – via Korea!

Flying to Korea

We had two great flights – Korean air are fabulous, and I totally digged the hostie’s uniforms (I meant to get a photo, alas I forgot! But you can see them here, and the cute little hairpieces they wore here.) I took a lot of photos out of the plane window, especially of the gorgeous ice crystals that formed.

We had an overnight stopover at Incheon in South Korea – we stayed in what felt like a brand-new city! Seriously, half of it was being built… we overheard that it’s being built for the 2014 Asian Games… it was a surreal experience, I have to tell you.

In a Korean Hotel

The most surreal of all was the park (called Central Park) outside our hotel. We went for a walk there and couldn’t help but take a stack of photos… because it was one of the most bizarre places either of us had ever seen.

It was full of Christan tableaux of bible stories, made from silk stretched over wire frames. And the strangest bit was that it looked completely abandoned.

All the displays were falling apart, weeds were growing… I don’t know what it was created for, but it was heartbreaking to see all the work put in by so many artists just falling into disrepair.

It was a very strange experience…
