A great list of suggestions by Paulzii.
It got me thinking… what would be on my own list that isn’t here? How about:
- Get Distracted
- Go for a walk – without music – and let my mind wander
- Sleep In. I’m useless when I’m tired
- Spend a few moments cuddling my cat and my husband, and bask in the joy that brings me
- Let Go. Read a book and forget what I ‘should’ be doing
- Browse. Inspirational blogs/sites like Pinterest always help inspire me!
Thanks for those great tips!! I really agree with your “let go” advice. I’m useless when I’m trying too hard. Also, for me it really changes from day to day – sometimes inspiration via Pinterest or blogs is helpful, but then sometimes it’s not or just leads to unhealthy comparison.
Sitting down and free-writing for 30 minutes, running and walking, people watching, reading outside, going on photo walks, and watching creative movies are all things that help me stay creative.
DEFINITELY no.25 – Stop trying to be someone else’s ‘perfect’ – you are you, and that is that.
and collaboration? – LOVE it! so much fun, bouncing ideas off each other, and coming up with unexpected tangents!
Quiet time too. I’ve got to have ME space, let the ideas percolate through.
A Visual Diary. Draw your idea, write about it , draw it again. Develop your ideas, spend time thinking about them; HONE them.
Un-pressurise yourself. Then pressure yourself – flux is a good thing!
love this list!
sometimes going and having coffee with friends helps.
Or just wandering round the shops – I get colour inspiration!
Great lists!
I hadn’t felt very creative recently (because of life stresses), but I finally just worked on something I hadn’t made time for & it really got the creativity going. That one little thing had removed a “road block” & now I can’t stop thinking of things I need/want to do. I guess my suggestion would be: let go of procrastination.
I like to go for a walk listening to music. And then build stories in my head that play along with the music.
And I love to go sit in a coffee shop with a notebook and pen and a coffee at hand and doodle and scribble notes. :o)
love these tips, no 18 definitely for me! here are a few more of my ways to stay creative.

I have been away for a while, but I am back, and catching up! 🙂 Looks like you had so much fun in the UK!
