Okay, so you know that Nick is building me this for Christmas, right?
That is fantastic… and I’m super-stoked… but I cannot for the life of me choose a colour to paint it!
I have kinda narrowed it down to a range of blues and greens, as you can see here:
I have succeeded in choosing drawer handles, as you can see – aren’t they pretty?!
So, my main dilemma is: do I want to go dark or light? Now don’t start talking about the space this will be in, because for the next year it will be in the current makeshift-study, which is my old bedroom, and is painted a dark kinda-aqua colour (a bit like that one on the bottom left there). But after that it will live in our new house, which I’m assuming (if things go to plan) will have whiteish walls and lots of windows – i.e. quite light and airy.
So I’m planning for the long term, I guess. But gosh, so many pretty colours! How ever will I pick one?

I’m an aqua girl all the way so the darker bluer ones are my choice!
Jess. I would be inclined to go with a turquoise/ aqua and add feature a touch of yellow/ or orange (Keeps the mind alert) for accessories.. maybe a pen holder or something.. The turquoise is about communicating your feelings. It encourages independence with work.. it is creative and yet still playful!
Peppermint green!! ๐
I like the second on Baby Motive but I would go with the half strength because my dad who is a painter & decorator always tells me to go one shade lighter because it always looks darker when it is on a large area.
Jess, Gorgeous colour choices..right up my alley. I love the Aquas but my favourite retro blue is Robins Egg Blue a mix of the blue green (pic2). And I always bring about 20 colour cards home too there are just so many pretty colours. Good luck with your choices your a lucky girl to have Nick build you such a lovely cupboard/desk/armoire thingy.

Amanda – that’s a fabulous tip from your Dad, thank you!
Viki – ohhh, it helps to see a colour on that large area – I love that one!
Leanne – I was waiting to hear your suggestions!
Thanks so much everyone! Decisions, decisions!
I love greens — a celery green — it’s light and not like lime sherbet! More like a light moss green. Kind of like the light green behind the “Flying Lessons” ad you have on your site but a bit more green. I also like grey and marigold yellow!
I would go for something lighter, since I don’t like having bright colors burnt into my eyes. I always thought for furniture, something more gentle/neutral is always better. I think the colors in the baby motive looks cute, like Leanne, I would use yellow as an ascent to decorate the table ๐
Narrow it down to a few colours and then get some sample pots and paint up sample squares. We did boards of 30 x 30cm to decide on paint colours. The colours I thought looked great on the card looked very different when painted over a larger surface area.
PS Sky Blue looks to be an adorable shade of robin’s egg blue. Just lovely!
Hmm, sample pots… good idea!
So many beautiful blues!!! (one of my all time favourite colours). I’d be inclined to go with something in the aqua range … I think it’s a lovely balance between the light and the dark.

gosh, how do you choose? I like them all. I suppose a mid shade would be best though, to work in both spaces?
I just have to say, I am totally jealous of the desk being made for you. I love the green!
