Today we welcome Deborah from Two Cheeky Monkeys! Deb is an Aussie with a love of shiny things, just like me. She makes a range of beautiful jewellery, and you’ve got a chance to score a piece of it for yourself today!

Where do you live?

In the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia

Where do you do your work?

I create from home (when my kids are asleep).

What’s your favourite place in the world, and why?

Don’t know if I could choose just one favourite. I was born in Singapore so I love going back to visit.  I also love the beauty of the Tasmanian landscape.

Tell us a little bit more about yourself! Your ‘day job’ or business, family, hobbies…

I am married to a wonderful maths/engineering/computer geek and my day job is currently taking care of our two energetic little girls (aka the two cheeky monkeys).  I used to work in research science (genetics) so I still have a keen interest in all things science-y.  My hobbies include jewellery making, sewing, paper crafting and running/jogging.  I also love music; I play the piano once a month at my church and spend a lot of my time singing silly made up songs to my girls, LOL.

What did you want to be ‘when you grew up’?

When I was very small I wanted to be a teacher, then I wanted to be a lawyer or musician.  And then I decided I just HAD to be a geneticist, which I sort of got to be before my kids were born.

How did you first get into your craft/art?

My mum is rather arty, having majored in creative arts at school.  She was the one who taught me to sew and knit.  I am a big fan of jewellery so I taught myself to make jewellery too from craft/beading books and online tutorials when I was in my teens.

What do you make?

I make beaded jewellery and accessories with a leaning towards a vintage look.

What are you most proud of making?

Hmmm, this is a tough question too.  Possibly the Tabitha Necklace.  The idea was floating around in my head for about a month before I finally put it together.  I really wanted to keep this one!

What do you like the most/least about selling your wares online?

I love the generally wonderful online community I have discovered while selling online!  I also love how international such a community is, I am in contact with people from Australia, Nth America, Asia and Europe!  What I like least about selling online is the amount of time I spend taking photographs of my work.  I am not the best photographer around…

It drives me crazy when…

I have to wait or slow down.

What’s your favourite word?

Magnanimous (he he).
