Friends, meet Proto.
{hanging out with his tweeps}
Proto is a little wonky, a little bit not-quite-right… Proto is, well, a Prototype!
{Please note wonky embroidery, outline pen showing… umm…}
A Prototype for a project I have brewing in my mind… something crafty, wordy, fun. Something that involves journeys, random acts of kindness, sewing, recycling. A project I’m calling 100 Words & 100 Birds.
Proto has been kind enough to teach me a few lessons.
Lesson 1 – always remember to mark your outline on the BACK of the fabric, not the front.
Lesson 2 – embroider BEFORE sewing, because embroidering through plastic bags is hard (yes, Proto is stuffed with old plastic bags! Viva recycling!).
Lesson 3 – it takes MUCH less time that I thought to make a bird like Proto, which is a good thing, given my plan.
I shall mull over my project, and when it’s ready, tell you all about it!

Jess, I stuffed the first birds I made with PAPER serviettes and tissues! It was the first thing I could find. I’m hoping the little people I gave them to don’t give them a bath!
Hehe, yes, at least disintegration isn’t something I have to worry about with Proto’s insides 😉
Cute! I’ve attempted birds like proto in the past and have had a lot of trouble with the pointy ends. Then again, I’m a notoriously impatient sewer.
Me too! I just made sure my ends were where I overlapped the two lots of sewing 🙂
