A few of the many treasures rescued during the clean-out of my grandparent’s house. Granny is settled in down in my old room in the house now, but my parent’s house is already full of antiques from other generations.
It’s my turn to start collecting some of the family heirlooms, I think. It’s funny, when I was younger I would have totally ignored pretty teacups – they were so ‘old-lady’. Now they’re a treasure.
I left these as-is, I like the fact that you can see the tea stains on some of them. I wonder who drank the last cup of tea out of them, and when? They were pretty well hidden away in the back of an unused cupboard…
P.S. if you want to see the pretty saucers, too, they’re on my flickr

delightful! The blue one is my favourite!!
they are truly gorgeous Jess. I love the orange so bright and happy . Hope you use them lots, especially for that first tea in the morning -is there anything better?! One thing ive learnt after i helped sort out my gorgeous 97 yr old grandmothers house… is to use the good stuff. She had so many beautiful things in storage “for good” that they just didnt get used which is so sad. So i use my beautiful tablecloths tea cups etc and love creating a new history for my own little family !

Dan, I think that’s a great idea! I will have to make sure to use these – maybe I should have a ‘high-tea party’ one day? (you’re invited ;D)
Oh these are so lovely! Wonderful to have such beautiful things handed down the family line – I inherited a few of my Grandmother’s tea cups when she moved in to a retirement home, they are very treasured pieces in my collection.
awww so cute! I rescued some things liek this from my nans when she passed away….they reminded me of her but now i think they are lovely!!
I love these they are soooo adorable I hope my Granparents have treasures like these hidden away somewhere
