How are you today, lovely reader?
In fact, who are you today?
I want to say hello!
I see all these little numbers ticking away in my sidebar over there, and I know every one of those numbers represents a real, live, breathing, eating, internet-surfin’ person, just like me… but are you just like me?
Where do you live?
How old are you?
What are your dreams?
What’s the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to you?
What makes you happy – like, really-heart-bursting happy?
What’s the book you’ve read/movie you’ve watched the most times?
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever seen?
What’s the best thing you’ve ever made?
In short – tell me something about you! It doesn’t have to be long, or detailed (though it can be!) – you don’t have to answer any of the questions above (though you can if you want) – jeepers, you can even just say ‘hi’!
But I’d love to learn one little thing about you. Because I blabber on so much about me… and gosh, it’s about time I gave the floor over to you, lovely reader!
So write me a word – write me an essay! Write something silly, crazy, simple, epic…
… hello?
Who are you?

Hi! I’m Mallory, I’m 27, I live in New Orleans and have grey hair! Um….. and I’m in a crazy sort of marching band called Noisician Coalition!
Hi lovely Mallory! 😀 What makes your marching band crazy?
Hello! I’m Brittany and I’m 21.
I live in North Carolina.
Completed crafts/projects, sleep, food, gardens, friends/family, and animals make me happiest!
I’ve read the book of Luke from the Bible the most (although, the Harry Potter books are a super close 2nd.)
I went on a trip with one of my good friends and saved brochures and pictures from the trip. I took everything I saved from the trip and framed them in an old two-paned window for her to hang in her bedroom.
Hi Brittany! Mmm, I can relate to all your happiness triggers – you sound like me 🙂 Love the frame you made for your friend, that sounds ace!
Where do you live? – Oregon
How old are you? – 27
What are your dreams? – to build a wonderful life with my fiance {!} and help make a difference in the lives of others
What’s the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to you? – getting engaged a couple weeks ago was pretty amazing. Having a loving and close knit family is pretty amazing too.
What makes you happy – like, really-heart-bursting happy? – Sunday lunches. The whole fambam gets together for sunday lunches. 3 generations. Pretty special.
What’s the book you’ve read/movie you’ve watched the most times? – I almost never watch a movie more than once. Or read a book more than once. TV shows on the other hand, I can watch them over and over. I’ve watched all the seasons of the Office several times {thanks to netflix}. it’s perfect background noise when you don’t have cable.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever seen? – Haven’t even seen anything really strange that I can think of.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever made? – Last christmas I handmade most gifts for my family members. It was really fun to think of things that they would actually like and make them with them in mind. versus just buying something.
haha, oops i’m 25. didn’t mean to age myself there.
Hi Cathy – congrats on your engagement! Oh, we do Sunday dinners with my parents every week too, it’s a special time I treasure 🙂
I live in the Turks and Caicos Islands (south of Bahamas and north of Hispanola). I am a 42 year old mother of 2 girls, photographer, painter, and jewelry maker as well as a scuba instructor/underwater photographer (although I am not active in that with 2 kids right now). I have to say that I am fortunate in that I am living my dream and continue to add to it with more and more creative work.
Movie I watch over and over: Love Actually…just a great message, books are a bit different, but I always enjoy the Lord of the Rings or Mists of Avalon and have very tattered copies of both
Strangest thing I have seen: Years ago my husband and I videoed a large Nassau Grouper local to a dive site that had just eaten an octopus. We didn’t realize it until the Grouper started exhaling “smoke” or actually ink from the still alive octopus which was trying to push it’s tentacles out of the Grouper’s gills…very different.
Best thing I ever made: anything I have done with family photographs, I have made albums and collages celebrating many years and occasions. The best gift was for a dear friend who was turning 40. The six months before her birthday with the help of her husband, I emailed and snail mailed friends and family all over the world and asked for letters/poems/photos and wishes for her 40th. I put it all in a linen bound album and it is definitely the best gift I have ever given. I plan to do the same for my daughters on their 18th birthdays.
Hi Krys – I have to say, your Grouper story gave me the shudders! 😉
I’d love to learn to scuba someday, it’s on my very long to-do list!
I’m 39, married with 3 children. I live in Ocean Grove and love walking along our beautiful beaches.
I love watching movies and look forward to the day that I can watch them more often. Reading takes me away from reality and as a Mother, I love that, even if its only for a short time.
The thing that makes me heart burstingly happy would have to be my children. Kids are the most honest, crazy and hyesterically funny little creatures. One minute they can be sending you mad, the next your heart could just burst with unconditional love.
We are renovating our house and I cannot wait to have my perfect studio set up. I can see it, imagine it and now I want to live it!
Hi Mandy – oh, renovation! I can SO relate – we will soon have a second room, wonder of wonders! And then, eventually, a house one day…
Hi Jess I’m Katie!
How old are you? I’m almost 26! Wow, I had to think about that then!
What are your dreams? To be really happy within myself, organised, have a successful craft/vintage business of my own, have some kind of impact on my community and to make my family proud of me.
What’s the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to you? Besides having a child. Travelling in New Zealand with my hubby & Father-in-law for 3 weeks it was pretty amazing. So beautiful & the most fun ever.
What makes you happy – like, really-heart-bursting happy? The feeling of connecting with ppl a million miles away. I love the online community so so much. Also finding something awesome in an op-shop or second-hand store!
What’s the book you’ve read/movie you’ve watched the most times? I mostly just read blogs!! I’ve only just started reading more again, usually always non-fiction- just bought Spaces by Frankie mag & Craft Inc.
Movie: city of angels- I used to love that movie so much. I havn’t been into allot of movie recently I’m way more into tv on DVD-One tree hill, The Office (US), 30 Rock & Dexter.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever made? A baby, honestly sometimes can’t believe the miracle that is life.
Hi dear Katie! I can definitely relate to your love of connecting with the online community 🙂
What a cute post. I’m Dee in Richmond, and I make jewelry, well you probably already know that, since you featured me once. But, I love reading, blogging and meeting new people, and mostly love great blogs like yours!
Hi Dee – thank you!
I am in California, US. My dreams… besides having a clean organized house? LoL Be successful in my artsy endeavors.
Oh, my favorite move/book is Pride and Prejudice. I can see it another 800 more times.
What makes me bursting happy is, doing art, having fun with my family, talking to friends.
I won’t go into the “strangest thing” because it will take me forever to type, but I have seen strange things happening :oP
The best thing I ever made I believe, is my 2 children. Although that was done in automatic I guess.
But something made with my own little hands, I thing always is the latest art project I’m working on. I always thing so anyway, but later I think the next one I like best.
Hugs!
Ayala – ahh, I share that dream of organisation… perhaps when we have more than one room to squeeze everything into, I might have more luck!
Hello, I’m Kye & I’m 45. I live outside of Boulder CO, & this is the 2nd time I’ve read your blog. This is a fun idea.
I have dreams of my own home, complete with secret garden & a pool, so that I can roll out of bed straight into it in the morning. Splash! I find this fantasy very helpful on nights when I come into the studio & don’t actually feel like working. The favorite quote seems to be “That house is not going to build itself.” And then, before I know it, I’m toiling away. yay.
It’s hard to say about what the most amazing or strange thing in a life is. As I look, there’s a lot of both. Which is quite a blessing, really. Always good to remember that!
My daughters & granddaughter make my heart bigger with love. My home life does that too, with my Jeff & our kitties & rituals. Life is good. Thanks for asking!
Hi Kye!! Welcome 🙂 LOVE your idea of a pool next to the bed!!
Glad to hear life is good, that’s the best we can ever hope for 🙂
Hi,
I’m Tara in Canada and I should be in bed!
So I’ll be quick, I think I’ve watched Princess Bride the most, that or Rocky Horror Picture Show.
🙂
Hey Tara!! Ohh, I LOVE the Princess Bride ;D
Hi Jess, what a wonderful international following you have!
My birthday was the day before yours – Taureans unite! That makes me 38. I live in Brisbane with my husband and our much loved cat Archie.
I was born in Namibia, Africa and have lived in Australia since 2003. I love it here but miss my childhood friends the most.
Two things that make me the happiest are reading and creating. I sometimes (okay, often) get a bit panicky that I will never be able to read all the books/make all the stuff that I want to before I die!! I love learning new things and always have something on the go – currently I’m learning to speak Italian and teaching myself to crochet.
The one thing that makes me angriest and saddest is animal cruelty – I wish I had a magic wand that could take away all the pain from mistreated animals.
My guiltiest pleasure is long showers – eeek! And chocolate. And spending way too much money on beads and shiny things.
Hi Cheryl – yay, a fellow Brisbanite! 🙂 I totally agree with what makes you angry, animal cruelty makes me very sad, too.
And good luck with the Italian! Molto Bene! 🙂
Hi Jess!
I live in Wiltshire in the UK although spend some of my time on the Greek island of Crete with my Dad and the Greek kitty cats who have adopted us!
I’m 27
I have soooo many dreams. To convert a campervan (uhum… where did I get that idea?!) and travel Europe in it. To successfully sell my prints wholesale, eventually having a warehouse and attend trde shows. Theres a little dream of a house boat / canal boat in there somewhere too!!
Most watched Movie/s…. The Notebook. Little Miss Sunshine. Atonement. Miss Potter.
So that’s a little about me :o)
Hi Em! Oh, yes, campervan converts… it’s an adventure! Travelling Europe is still on our books for one day, but it will be my first visit to the UK this June/July… can’t wait! 🙂
Hello! I’m Sarah from India and I’m 25 years old.
My dream is to have a full time creative business with any or all of my passions – baking, sewing or making jewelry. I often wish that I could somehow contribute to establishing crafting groups in India 🙂
I am happiest when I have ideas that I want to make into something – and when it actually works! I love it when I find other crafty souls like me
I am new to your blog so i am going to go and explore now 🙂
Sarah – I think starting/contributing to crafty groups sounds like something achievable! You should go for it 😉
Hi Jess, I’m Jess!
What a lovely idea for a post! I’m 24 and live in Bristol, UK in a tiny little city flat with my crazy organised boyfriend. We love minimalism and have been de-cluttering our lives for 2011. We have this goal to be able to fit everything we own into two bags and two boxes, crazy huh? In complete contrast I love to make things, knitting and baking mostly. I love long dreamy films like Amelie and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. My goals are to quit my bank job, become a full time crafty person, learn to speak french and move to Canada! Me in a nutshell. 🙂
Hi Jess! Ohh, some of my fave films, too 🙂 And that’s one heck of a minimalist goal – wowsers! I can barely go away for the night without a full bag of clothes 😉
I think your goal is fabulous, and achievable – come back and tell me when you do it!
Hi! My name is Sara, I’m 19 and live in Turin, Italy! Someday I wish I could move to the USA precisely to Los Angeles for at least a couple of months if not forever! Also I’d love to visit all the USA as I’m such an addicted to everything American..:)What makes me heart-bursting happy is people telling they really care about me or choosing me over something else or someone else..it makes me feel worth when everything feels kinda dark.
Since it came out I’ve loved the Moulin Rouge movie..it’s just SO amazing and it makes me cry all the times..as for books I love the Harry Potter saga which has been a part of my life since I was a little girl!:)
Hi Sara! Oh, I LOVE Harry Potter! 🙂
Good luck with your dream of visiting America – I’ve been a few times and love the West Coast – next time though I want to visit New York!
Hi there! I’m Danielle, a crafty/artsy college student from Santa Cruz, California. I love your blog. Supes cute. Something random? I looove the movie Away We Go. I can practically recite it. :))
Hi Danielle! And thanks 🙂
I don’t know if I’ve seen that movie – I might have to check it out 🙂
Hi Jess. I’m Jo.
I live in Geelong in Victoria. It’s a rural city on the bay, about an hour from Melbourne. It’s not the most picturesque town to live in, but it’s all about location. We have the great ocean road nearby.
I turned 35 on Monday! I have a daughter, Hazel, who is 9 months old. I am starting to think about having another child, I can’t quite imagine it yet though.
I dream about world peace, not in a beauty pageant way!
The most amazing thing that has ever happened to me was becoming a mother. It’s also the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
Human kindness makes me happy. I am constantly reminded of all the goodness in this world.
I can’t read a book twice, but the best book I’ve read recently is Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey. The movie I’ve watched the most times is Being John Malcovich.
The best thing I’ve ever made is a cable shawl/scarf I knitted for my Mum. Looking back, I don’t know how I did it.
Hi Jo! Oh, I love Melbourne (if only it wasn’t so COLD!).
I’m 15 and I love being random. 🙂
I love ballet, especially dancing en Pointe. I play soccer. I love reading (on average I read about 75 books a year). I knit. I have my my own garden in a hidden corner of our yard, I call it my Secret Garden and there’s a robin nesting in it! How perfectly like the book. 🙂
I peel grapefruits like oranges instead of cutting them in half. I have my library card number memorized. I love pet rats, though I don’t have one of my own. Pomegranates are my favorite.
And I love sarcasm. 🙂
Hi Inna – welcome! I think you’ve already done an amazing amount considering your age, I’m in awe! 🙂
Hi Jess,
I’m 26, and living in Vancouver. I was born in Southern California and then lived in NYC before moving out here for University and then staying. Two things that make my heart swell are my husband and acting. I’m an actor (in theatre, not film).
Hi Shalyn, welcome! Oh, Vancouver – my brother-in-law lives on Victoria, I can’t wait to visit one day!
Hello! (waves frantically as if she may miss the bus)
Theresa here, in the hot state of NC, presently sitting at my desk with the heat on. (66 is too cold in this house!)
Now that I’m 40, I’m ready to get this life started. All the years prior were practice.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever made?
Aside from my kids? I would have to say the year I made a very fancy, fluffy wedding gown. Velvet bodice with a strip of beading, and 8 layers of fluffy tulle and then some with crystal beading all over. It was really sweet, very Cinderella.
“Now that I’m 40, I’m ready to get this life started. All the years prior were practice.”
Love it, Theresa!! 😀
Greetings, I’m 32, I’m from Adelaide in Australia but at the moment I call Vancouver, Canada my home.
I travel around working on festivals where I can – and take more boring jobs to pay the rent when I need to.
I wish money didn’t exist.
Sometimes I make necklaces and such out of beads. I also tend to make birthday cards because the ones in the shop are pretty boring.
But I haven’t done that in a while. Should get back onto it.
xxJulie
Where do you live? Ephrata, Washington
How old are you? 37 since the 6th of May
What are your dreams? I’ve always dreamed of being self sufficient and living of the grid.
What’s the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to you? Having three kids with the man of my dreams.
What makes you happy – like, really-heart-bursting happy? Spending time outdoors… Sitting, Gardening, Hiking, Camping with family and friends.
What’s the book you’ve read/movie you’ve watched the most times?Book? Hmmm… not sure what I’ve read the most since i’m always reading something. Movie would have to be either Brigadoon or Seven Brides for Severn Brothers used to watch them with my mom now I watch them with my kids.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever seen? It was Jan 1990 and it was cold, darn cold… there was horror-frost on everything and steam was coming off of the Columbia River in what seemed to be 7 to 9 foot columns it was beautiful and strange.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever made? A Light Catcher/Rainbow mobile… something like that anyhow for my Mom last year.
