Wow, The Great Australian Granny Square has had a big week!
Firstly, I want to say an enormous thank you to all the people who have already offered to contribute yarn to the project! I’m so looking forward to getting to my folk’s place next week and seeing all the new yarn to add to the project!
All the yarn I’ve used this week has kindly been donated by my very good friend Amanda, whom we stayed with in Canberra. Here we are the first night Nick and I arrived in Canberra, getting our craft on. I taught her to make a granny square – hurrah!
Because I’ve had limited yarn this week, TGAGS hasn’t grown too much… but here we are around the place.
First – the International Flag Display in Canberra…
… this is just by lake Burley Griffin, in the Canberra Parliamentary District. Being autumn, all of the gorgeous trees were turning – the colours were amazing. That’s not something we normally see up in Brisbane!
Second – outside the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. One of the most moving places I have ever been to…
… the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier was the more awe-filled and sacred place – a must for anyone who visits Canberra.
We then made our journey from Canberra to Sydney, where we’ve stayed for 2 days with a friend near Bondi Beach.
Third – our day out in Sydney on Sunday! I think most of you will know the backdrops…
… I know, so many shots of the Sydney Opera House – but it really is the most amazing and beautiful building!
The next week we plan to spend travelling back up the New South Wales coast towards Brisbane… look out for Byron Bay next week!
