I am sure that you are well aware of the devastating floods currently affecting Queensland. The Queensland Government has launched an appeal to help those affected by the recent floods. Many communities have been devastated. Some families have lost everything.
It is heartbreaking to see my city starting to go underwater. I’m still on the road at the moment, but the images I am seeing online and on the television – images of places I know and love going underwater – are horrible. Luckily, my family and our home are safe (though apparently our room in the shed had a good inch of water flow through during the worst of the rain – the little creek beside the shed overflowed).
12 people have already been confirmed dead from the initial flash of floods that swept through Toowoomba and other places west of Brisbane, and around 70 people are still missing. The worst is still to come in the city of Brisbane itself, with the flood waters peaking tomorrow.
All of us at the Creative Collective have made a Donation to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal to show our support for the victims. You too can help make a difference by donating to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.
More details on the number of ways to donate can be found here.
If you’re in an affected area – we’re thinking of you – stay safe, and good luck.
