…these buttons? They are freaking adorable – I chose them painstakingly from a tub full of them at the V&A Museum of art and design in London (which is all sorts of awesome, and I will be blogging about it soon).
I have to admit, I might have searched for longer than I really needed too, because I just loved the quiet clinky-swish sound that the ceramic buttons made as I pushed them around, searching for treasure.
But – what to make with them? Some thoughts:
- I could make them into necklaces
- Sew them onto one of my bags
- Give them away as-is to some of my seamstress friends
- Make them into magnets to stick on the fridge
I have to admit, the jeweller in me is leaning towards the necklace option. What do you think, folks?
P.S. Does anyone else dig museum and art gallery shops as much as me? They always seem to be full of endlessly fascinating and funky things!
P.P.S. I just discovered while writing this post that the V&A have an online shop! Someone take my Paypal away from meee….

Ooooo! Very pretty! A necklace would be gorgeous but since rings are my thing, I would definitely turn them into rings.
Whatever you do, I’m sure it will be lovely.
Hi Jess, as a jewelry designer I had this idea in my mind as soon as I saw them. They’re beautiful as jewels so I would transform them into rings.
LOVE them Jess. I definitely think necklace or….. you could give them to me 🙂 LOL They are beautiful!
They would make lovely barrettes or headbands. Drool!
Oh I love these and I am green with envy! I want to look through the V&A bowl of buttons too!!
I think these would look cute as little brooches. Then you could pin them onto (or make a new) brooch hoop. Would also mean that you can move them around to different jackets and stuff.
I’m off to check out their website. Super excited they have an online shop!!!
And yep siree – I spend almost as much time in museum and gallery shops as I do in the actual museums and galleries themselves!
Oh my gosh – rings and brooches – what a great idea!! 😀
Oh, what about earrings! 🙂 Like different studs, or maybe just slightly dangly ones!!
yes! I was going to suggest rings as well! You could make a few different things: rings, necklaces, a brooch.
I agree with the Brooch idea, I think they would look great complimented by Silver 🙂
I agree, made into brooches they would be amazing. Be sure to post the finished product.
I have a button addiction as well! Theses are adorable. You could use gem tac and glue them to nailheads to make pretty hangers for art hung from ribbon.
