Today we welcome Australian Photographer Kirsty from Filmless Photos. Kirsty has a focus on fine art photography – but she’s displaying it in some forms you might not have seen before!
Your name: Kirsty
Shop name: Filmless Photos (Kirsty2715)
Where do you live?
Wagga Wagga, Southern New South Wales, Australia
Where do you do your work?
Anywhere a camera can go
Anywhere on a deserted white sandy beach, or in the Snowy Mountains in Autumn. Â The crisp air, the smells and sounds and the absence of obnoxious people – what more could you ask for?
Tell us a little bit more about yourself! Your ‘day job’ or business, family, hobbies…
I work as an Occupational Therapist by day, renovator of my home at night and on weekends, and photography dabbler in my spare time. Â I live with my partner, pound puppy and rescue bird and love good organic food, wine, travel and company when I’m not doing any of the above 🙂
What did you want to be ‘when you grew up’?
When I finally grow up I want to be deliourisly happy and as mad as a hatter. Â When I was smaller than I am now, I wanted to be a teacher, a librarian, a car mechanic, a nurse, a doctor……I came up with a new on every week 🙂
How did you first get into your craft/art?
I’ve always had an interest in “the arts”, be it music, visual art or acting/drama and I’ve always loved black and white photos (strange considering most of my current work is outrageously colourful). Â I did shoot with a film SLR for a little while, but it was really expensive to get the film developed if you didn’t have a good day. Once digital SLR cameras became affordable, it was easy to make the switch and to experiment more with photos. Â I guess I just fell in love with fooling around and now I’m hooked 🙂
What do you make?
Lots of mistakes that turn into quirky photographic art. Â I am moving into “Usable Art” products for those who have no wall space left, but the prints will always be my main product.
What are you most proud of making?
Not so much the making of them, but more the sticking with all my crazy concepts, giving them a go and then successfully selling them as prints.
What do you like the most/least about selling your wares online?
I don’t have a least, but my favourite is the fact that you are open 24/7 and there is always someone out there who appreciates what you are doing.
I love…
my partner, my family, my dog, my bird and sunday morning breakfast at the local cafe.
It drives me crazy when…
people don’t take responsibility for themselves or their actions!
What’s your favourite word?
Snuggle
If you could sum yourself or your work up in one sentence, it would say…
A quirky view of the everyday

I am a sort of newish amateur photographer; it’s a passion. But I still don’t know my f-stops from my focal lengths–it ain’t easy stuff! I have so much admiration for anybody who can really use a camera…and even more for those who do something really interesting with what they capture. That is exactly what Kristy does! I really love so many of the pieces at her shop, but I think my fave is the ‘Make A Wish’ photo blog. I love ‘ghost dandelions’!
(Incidentally, I’m even more in love with this blog for finding Filmless Photos!)
