Oh man, how true is this. I am definitely in the ‘lets go for it and see what happens!!’ camp – and I believe that’s a necessary trait for any entrepreneur. You have to be willing to take a risk, and just go for it – and not wait for perfection, or a ‘perfect’ moment.
This causes a bit of friction when Nick and I are trying to make/build something together. He’s very methodical, making sure to ‘cover all the angles’ before we start, whereas I just want to jump in and DO it, and figure it out as we go. We usually find a happy medium, and both perspectives mean that we end up with a better result.
But if I waited for perfection, *bespoke* would not exist, I’d never publish a blog post, and I would certainly not have launched Crafty & Connected. Putting yourself and your work out there like that is scary!
But oh so rewarding, too.
So, which are you? Does the fear of not being perfect hold you back from doing what you want to do?

Awesomeness! I am a jump in and do it girl for most things. But when it comes to my business… I need to push myself more.
Now I am off to do more jumping in… 🙂
Great read!
I am a perfectionist which sometimes results in procrastination.
Unfortunately I am a bit of a perfectionist – less so after years of trying not to be – but still enough of one to have many potential projects left unfinished (or started in some cases) – any words of wisdom from the just do it folk?
I’m definitely a jump in and go for it person, feeling my way as I go. My partner is the complete perfectionist so he’ll give me a good honest critique (which I may or may not listen to!) – that approach misses the mark occasionally but I think you learn a much more valuable lesson having the courage to try! 🙂
Ah, true words. I need to do a lot less procastinating and a lot more jumping in!
although I have much improved & grown past this syndrome… it still gets me from time to time. I am much more likely (& willing) to see when it’s happening and steer clear of it.
