This has been a wonderful week, full of happiness about *bespoke*, fun with Vintette… but it’s not all about work! That’s something I have to remind myself of on a daily basis, because when you live and work mostly in one room, the line between work and play can get awfully muddled.
So, I thought I’d share a few pieces of my world this week with you.
First, a couple of new ceramic birdies that I’m not sure I’ve shared before. The first set are vintage, and have ’85 engraved roughly on the bottom, so I’m thinking they may have been handmade, too? Not sure though…
These next ones are handmade, I love the blue glazing! I bought them from mudpuppy. I have a few more sets of birds winging their way (pun, teehee) from other parts of the world to me… I hope they arrive soon!
This one’s a little special – it belongs to my Granny, but I have ‘inherited’ it early since she’s coming to live with us.
I’ve also ‘inherited’ this amazing box. I think it’s made from brass, and has the most gorgeous and detailed enamelling…
It’s made for rings, because inside are a few sections with a base that curves up so you can sweep things out if it easily…
I stole a few minutes earlier in the week to go take photos of one of my favourite trees – the Tibouchina.
It bursts into bloom every Autumn with a tree-full of these gorgeous violet flowers!
Oh, and this is what my feet look like most of the week – unless I go out it’s either thongs (flip-flops or jandles to you, perhaps) or barefoot!
And while on the subject of shoes… I wore my Chucks out today while we went hunting for an old second-hand wardrobe to tide us over… since Granny is moving in and needs the wardrobe space in my old bedroom!
Today I also wore my adorable new little brooch – Nick has dubbed it the ‘fail whale’ – and this from a man who hardly uses twitter! I was impressed.
It’s very cute, and was made by polly gone and bought from Bleeding Heart in Brissie.
And finally… a very good evening and good night to you all… the view over our back paddock just a few minutes ago, captured by Nick…

I have a blue version of the clear bird. My mom’s best friend gave it to her after her divorce, and she met the love of her life. My mom then passed it on to me, and I met the love of mine. I now have it in our guest room (future baby room) window… I hope it brings me good luck one more time.
Oh, that’s a lovely story! I’m sure it will 🙂
