You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me. ~C.S. Lewis
Life is always brighter when accompanied by a steaming cup of tea. My tea of choice is strong English Breakfast with a dollop of honey, and plenty of milk.
My first cup of tea each morning serves as the herald of my day – helping me gain awareness and giving me time to adjust. It is a moment of calm before the storm – taken in bed, as it is – and usually made by my lovely husband.
Tea is drunk to forget the din of the world. ~T’ien Yiheng
Throughout the day, cups of tea will flow. They will keep me going, while also giving a chance to stop and rest for just a moment.
When things are going wrong, a cup of tea will help set them to rights. A cup of tea will always be made when my family sits down together. Making a cup of tea for someone is a tiny way of saying ‘I love you’.
There is no trouble so great or grave that cannot be much diminished by a nice cup of tea. ~Bernard-Paul Heroux
Tea is an even more pronounced fact of life now that I’m married to an Englishman. The English really do take tea-appreciation to a whole new level. Though, I have to say – I’m glad I married a man who isn’t jealous of my love affair with tea. That would never do!
Is tea one of your simple pleasures?

It sure is one of mine Jess. I drink it black. My favourite tea of all is Monk Pear. But I also love English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Green with Peppermint, and a new blend someone gifted me: Stockholm. It’s so comforting and uplifting at the same time. We really must have a cuppa in person someday!
I would love that very much, Sally! Oh, Monk Pear is one of my mum’s favourites!
I spent the afternoon playing in the rain with my kid! It is amazing how fun and uplifting the simple things in life really are!
This year I have really grown to love tea. I was a coffee drinker and loved the burst of energy that gave me but, a mild case of rosacea would always appear on my face afterwards so, to keep my face happy and keep my nerves steady I switched to tea. I really love my cup each morning and I think an afternoon ritual is something I should start to help me pause and reset my day.
I think that’s a great idea, Kristen! It’s a nice ritual to make you stop and relax for just a little bit, to work as a pause button on your day 🙂
I can’t start a day without a decent cup of tea. My favourite these days is Christmas Mystery by Greenfield Tea 😀 Oh, I so love it, despite of the time of year! Tea is a real pleasure for me 😉
Christmas Mystery! That sounds intriguing 🙂
I have a few favourites – Prince on Wales, Russian Caravan, and White tea among the top teas in my house! I have to pace myself thanks to a pesky caffeine sensitivity, but decaf keeps me going in the meantime 🙂
