What a weekend!
Nick and I had the fabulous experience of sharing *bespoke* with the world at the Finders Keepers market this weekend gone.
I would really love to get the answer to this question from a more experienced marketeer or home-maker – but how on earth can I keep my sheet/tablecloth from crinkling!? I promise I ironed it ;D
A magazine by itself is a pretty thing… but I couldn’t help but add some props…
And LOTS of folks now have a pretty *bespoke* bookmark to call their own!
Issue 1 has been sold out for a long time… but I brought along this rare copy in a frame to show it off.
One lucky person will be winning this prize pack… the winner will be announced next week in the *bespoke* newsletter 🙂
Finally… me with the stand on Saturday with my inadvertently matchy-matchy dress. And our neighbours’ random arm.
It was a beautiful two days – warm, breezy, and with some rather tasty food and coffee!
I had to leave Nick on his lonesome, however, when I dashed over to Hamilton to give a 2-hour talk on social media for indie biz, thanks to BrisStyle and the Brisbane City Council Art Bites Program.
There was a big, enthusiastic crowd, and I had a blast nattering on about social media for 2 hours. I could have talked all day, but I had a market to get back to!

I think the absolute best thing to come out of this weekend was the connections I made with so many wonderful, passionate people.
Especially hearing how much people enjoy reading *bespoke* – and connecting in-person with so many other crafters and creatives – really re-inspired me and reminded me why I started *bespoke* in the first place.
It’s put new wind in my sails! So a big hug and thank-you to every single person whom I chatted with – you rock!
But this post wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t share some of the other awesomeness that was at the market…
Me wearing some awesome resin rings by our market neighbour, Emerald Green Submarine!
New deer brooches from my lovely friend Amanda of Hungry Designs. Adorable cushions from Herbert & Friends.
I loved these little critters from Esbert’s Collection! And how could you go past these origami brooches from Kimono Reincarnate?
Rebound Books took me down memory lane with their Little Golden Book diaries…
And alas, that was all I managed to snap photos of! I did run around and talk to/get business cards from pretty much everyone, and I can’t wait to follow up and feature many of them here and in *bespoke*!

Your bespoke magazines are so pretty! Maybe when you iron your tablecloth you should leave it to cool and then fold it up for travelling, or use one made of thicker material.:)
Thanks Wendy! I might have to invest in a thicker one that doesn’t crease as easily! 🙂
Your set up looks gorgeous and it sounds like such a wonderful weekend of craft and connections! Â I am a wee bit jealous – it makes me want to live in Australia again, or at least somewhere I can speak the local language (oh, and am allowed to work!). Â
ps. those cushion critters are so cute!
Loved hearing about/seeing your weekend, Jess. That stray arm in the pic is hilarious. 😀 Martha Stewart taught me a tablecloth trick – after it’s pressed, store and transport it rolled on a cardboard tube.
Ohh, rolling it up, yes! What a great idea!
looks great!
in regards to crinkled tablecloths….. best thing is to get non crinkle fabric from a fabric shop. hem the ends = a lovely tablecloth that always looks great.
I have this same problem with my market table. Mum (and many others) use this fab material called Pan Velvet. You don’t need to iron it, it’s easy to fold and if you have to bundle it up and just squish it into a box/bag it doesn’t matter. Apparently it can be gard to get hold of, but try Spotlight or specialty fabric shops. I’m on the lookout for myself aswell. Love the look of your stall, it’s fresh and feminine 🙂
Jennifer
It was great to see you this weekend Jess, and I agree, it was a fabulous weekend for amazing connections. Â I came home exhausted yet buzzing!
I agree with the other comments re a wrinkle-free / less wrinking fabric. Â I also sometimes pack a spray-on product called “ironfree”, it’s a bit like (non-aerosol) spray-on starch that you then rub the fabric and get many of the wrinkles out. Â It’s also great for travelling or those days you couldn’t be bothered ironing. Â You can get it at most supermarkets.
PS Â Thanks for the origami brooch photo!
Reading the post and was like “What a minute that’s the hairclip Jess bought!” Exciting moment when I see someone wear something I’ve made. Also I will be hanging onto my Bespoke Issue 1!
Oh yes, I spruiked you a bit, I was wearing one clip each day 😉 They’re so cute!
