So, if you’re one of my tweeps, you might know that Nick and I have been making-over our studio/lounge/kitchen room.

Before we went to the UK, Nick got our second room – which is now our bedroom – done, and the old room was looking worse for wear. The floor was unpainted concrete, with years of stains, and some of the furniture was dark, and sucked all the light out of the space (you can see some of what it looked like here).

Now, the floor is painted a lovely smooth light sandy colour to match the bedroom, and we’ve done a WHOLE lotta furniture painting to revamp the space – not to mention the huge pantry Nick has built!

I’ll show you the finished product once we’ve moved everything back in properly, but today I wanted to share a little part of the makeover.

See, I have a very large collection of little artworks – such as mini-photo-prints, postcards, and cards. I’ve not had a good solution to display them (excluding my door, which I am still in love with) and the wall behind the couch looked bare and uninviting, though it had some cute touches.

The wall before...

So, I bought myself some twine and sticky hooks. Then I pulled out some white paperclips I had lying around.

I stuck up 6 hooks and strung the twine between them, then used the paperclips (I decided they were less visually intrusive than the bulldog clips) to attach the little artworks to the string.

And here’s what it looks like now!

Oh – I also put the old tulip quilt along the back of the couch. It was living on an arm, because sometimes I like to read late at night and Nick kicks me out of the bedroom so he can sleep. And I need that quilt to keep me toasty!

It’s a hand-me-down from my great-grandmother, I believe (and it needs a little repair, too).

What do you think? I love how it brightens up a previously bare wall, and it means I get to gaze upon all the sweetness every day, rather than it being hidden away in a pile somewhere.

On my wall, you can see art from 74 Lime Lane, Courney Brims, Hungry Designs, Matou en Peluche and Bianca Jagoe, as well as a few other random bits and pieces!

P.S. See that little part of the wall on the left in the first picture? I have something cute in the works for that, too – stay toooneed!!

P.P.S. have you entered the ‘name my dress form‘ competition yet? You could win pretty things!
