I laughed when I saw this today. How utterly true it is.
When this happens to me I usually give in and grab a notebook – I find that if I write all the ideas down, it’s like my brain can relax, because it knows I won’t forget them – I’ve ‘downloaded’ them for future use.
Do you have those moments where you just can’t sleep because your brain is whirring with zillions of ideas? How do you deal with it?

Love this! That`s me at 3 am so many nights! I do the same thing and keep a notebook beside my bed so I can make notes and then sleep.
That comic is so true. Happens to me all the time. I usually just let my brain play until I drift off.
It’s me too, i really need to do the note book thing.
Yep, I had to get a notebook in order to sleep! 🙂
i have so many notebooks that are “idea notebooks” ones that fit in my handbag, ones that are big and are on my desk, ones that… well i dont know where they are!! I have a whole shelf in my artroom that is “notebooks”. A dream day for me would be to spend an entire day going over every idea and putting them into ONE notebook that i can check off
I so agree. I’m the type that can’t leave a project unfinished, always one more thing, five more minutes. And having to sleep on it … ugh. I’ve tried the notebook thing and honestly find it easier just to lie with my thoughts.
What a comfort to know I am not alone! It can be an amazing experience, and yes, can be somewhat harnessed with the notebooks, but would you ever want to do without the spectacular wee hours of the morning mental fireworks?
No, I would not – very true, Anne!!
Yes, know that feeling, and yes, I have 2 or 3 notebooks….difficult to keep track of my ideas, as I jump between notebooks! Best to have too many ideas than none at all 🙂
So funny – it’s a mixed blessing when the ideas start flowing…so exciting to see them all in my mind but then to not have time to try them, or sometimes even write them down [but I agree – jotting it down is perfect!]. For me those moments are more likely when I am in a [boring] meeting at work when I’d much rather been busy working on an idea!
Thanks for the post – I enjoyed that!
Yes!!! The notebooks, and post-its and scraps of paper. My best iseda usually pop into my head when i’m in the shower or the pool….obviously very influenced by water.
Thanks Jess, good to know we’re all the same.
