Today I’d like to welcome this month’s featured sponsor – Dylan from DK Living! When Dylan got in touch about advertising on ED, I was so excited – I love the range of vintage Danish modern furniture he and his family import to Australia.

My name is Dylan & together with my mother, Hanne’ & sister, Rachele, we run DK Living, a boutique Danish furniture & collectables store tucked away in a side street in Malvern, and distributing right across Australia.

When the three of us visited relatives in Denmark during a cold January in 2011 it lead to a collaboration with my uncle, an antique furniture dealer based on the island of Fyn, to import Danish modern furniture into Melbourne.

I had always felt the Danish furniture available in Australia was relatively price prohibitive, which is disappointing as many of the designers associated with the Danish modern furniture movement intended for their designs to not only be aesthetically pleasing & functional, but able to be enjoyed by everyone. It is for this reason I have endeavoured to keep our prices as reasonable as possible.

Many of our pieces are sold in original vintage condition, while others are lovingly restored in-house, depending on our customers requirements. When restoring items we respect the methods of the past and only use the best materials available, such as Kvadrat textiles and soft Italian full grain leathers, consulting with the end-user throughout the process to achieve the best results possible.

We also stock a variety of other Scandinavian mid-century items such as beautiful art glass from the likes of Holmegaard, Kosta Boda, & Kastrup, as well as porcelain & ceramics from Royal Copenhagen, Bing & Grondahl, and Aluminia, and lighting produced by Louis Poulsen; as well as a great range or Scandinavian skins that make great decorative items, such as Reindeer skins, Gotland Sheepskins, & Icelandic Sheepskins.

Jess’ note – my favourite in the shop are these beautiful Kai Kristiansen chairs! See DKLiving’s range on their website here.
