On Friday afternoon, I made my way into the city to a blogger meet-up, and I was very keen to get in early so I could go to GOMA (The Gallery of Modern Art) and see the latest  Exhibition – 21st Century: Art in the First Decade.
Unfortunately, I only had about 30 minutes to look around before they closed for the day – I’m hoping to get back there next week for a better look… because there was SO much to see!
But I wanted to share the most amazing installation with you – friends on twitter told me I HAD to visit this particular piece… and I’m glad they did, because it was tucked up on the top level in an out-of-the-way corner room.
You walk up a corridor, where an attendant stands beside a big door made from hanging chain. She explained the exhibit, then let me in.
It is a sound installation, filled with finches and coathangers. The little birds fly around you freely, eating seeds, nesting… and singing. Honestly, words don’t do it justice. If you’re in Brisbane, go check it out – and hurry, because this exhibit closes on April 26th.

Oh wow Jess, when I first looked at your post I thought they must’ve been fake bird that they’ve set up but then I read that they were real! How cool, nice way to experience art!
I’m so looking forward to seeing this … I might just drop in next week.
It looks even more amazing than I imagined.
xx
You DEFINITELY need to go Tracey, it’s amazing! 🙂
