Hello all!! Oh, I’ve missed you – I have SO much to blog about but I’ve been running around all weekend with friends, not to mention I’ve got seriously limited internet access at the moment.
But I’ve managed to steal my friend’s computer today to write this post for you (and stay tuned for more later in the week!)
As I mentioned last week, my friend Ainslie challenged me to photograph myself each day in the UK, as a ‘what I wore’ challenge. As I have always been a daggy traveller in the past, it’s been fun to have to dress up nicely every day. And man oh man, the VINTAGE HERE!!! I’ve already bought a whole stack of stuff – dresses, skirts, jackets, even shoes. I’m in thrifting heaven.
So, the personal part of my challenge will be to incorporate one thrifted piece from here in the UK in each day’s outfit. I think I started this on Thursday this week. On each picture, I’ve written the price of the main thrifted item – stuff is SO cheap here, and there is so much good quality clothing!
But enough with the blather, let’s check out the outfits, shall we?
Sunday/Monday
I’m classing this as one day as it was a looooong journey from Australia to England!
You can tell it was the start of the journey in Brissie International – I look so fresh!
Not the most stylish of outfits, but designed for layers – so I could take my shorts off in the plane and curl up with the leggings on. I’m not one for being brave enough to attempt leggings-as-pants. Nope.
Tuesday
Ahh, here I am in the backyard of my English ‘home’ a.k.a. my in-laws place. They have THE most gorgeous little back garden, including a huge Oak tree with resident squirrels – squee!
I’ve got my fave thrifted Tsonga shoes on, plus a cardi borrowed off my mum (*cough* you’re so not getting this back *cough*). Plus a bird theme going on with my own Vintette necklace and That Vintage brooch.
Wednesday
Won’t go on about this one as I did a whole what I wore post on it last week. But I love the red tights. Seriously. In fact, I’m wearing them as I type this.
Thursday
Ahh, we begin with the English thrift-o-rama! I went to a couple of op shops in Shirley, and scored a few bits and bobs – the first of which is this gorgeous, warm cardi.
I’m wearing a vintage handmade dress I brought with me, as well as my fave Two Cheeky Monkey’s clock necklace. This one was taken at a church just down the road from the in-laws.
Friday
Here I am down in Falmouth, Cornwall! We’ve come down to spend the weekend with one of Nick’s best mates.
Another of my Shirley finds – this awesome Marks & Spencer skirt! And I just happened to have bought the perfect tights to match…
Saturday
A day out in Falmouth – including a walk down the beach. So out comes my tulip dress – another Shirley op shop find. LOVE the colours. I call this my ‘Minecraft’ dress, because the flowers are all pixelated.
If you are a gamer, or are the partner of one, as I am, you will get the reference. Otherwise, don’t worry about it ;D You can see my fave thrifted belt coming out to play again today (I need to get more belts!)
Sunday
I think this is my fave outfit of the whole week!
For starters, how cute are these M&S tights!!! Then, the jacket, which I picked up the day before at the most amazing vintage fair. The skirt is thrifted from back home, and I handmade my hat.
In fact, here’s my fave photo of the week with a little rundown…
Also a handmade purse, necklace, earrings, ring, and another That Vintage brooch.
But most exciting – the phone booth! The car in the background! Sun in England!
I’m loving it here…
Oh, and P.S. -Â What’s your fave outfit?

Yye for sun in the UK! I am back next weekend and after a heatwave it will no doubt rain! My favourite is the tulip dress, great find!

Wow what great finds. I love the tulip dress & grey cardigan, oh and all the tights- gotta love tights. Looks like your having a great time.
Love your outfits Jess, especially the Minecraft dress! Cam adn the kids are obsessed with that game lol
First up – a huge round of applause for not going the leggings and pants route. There is far too much of it about.
I like all the outfits but I think my two favourites are Wednesday and Thursday – the dresses look so feminine and pretty and the crop cover ups work perfectly with them. I adore the cardi you picked up, such an unusual design (I am cardi/shrug obsessed at the moment…)
I was in UK last year and loved the op shops, serious Aladdin’s Caves.
Just love all of your outfits.. you have inspired me to wear coloured tights rather than my regular black ones… Ps what an awesome challenge..
Oh, thanks so much, everyone! 😀 I’m having such fun…!!
Minecraft dress, definitely 😉
Definitely Thursday’s dress and cardi outfit – love it!

Hello Jess
The saturday outfit is too cute.
Man, where are you finding all these treasures? I’m in London at the moment and desperate to get out of the city to do some op shopping. Any tips on where to go would be great!
So far I’ve found stuff in op shops just outside Southampton, and in Falmouth 🙂
I love all of your sweet little MaryJanes!
