Hello! I am finally home and not completely jet-lagged!

What a whirlwind of a trip this has been – you would think 6 weeks was long enough, but nope, not hardly – we barely stopped the whole time. It was an absolutely amazing experience, and while I’m very glad to be home, I do miss the UK, my new friends, and my mum-and-dad-in-law a lot.

So, I am finally dragging my good self back to business, and today I’ve got Week 4 of my What I Wore Challenge for you! I’m excited particularly for Monday and Tuesday – because I’m wearing 2 of the 3 vintage dresses I picked up in Brighton from Kate & Aud. If you go to Brighton, go there! They’re lovely, and their selection of vintage dresses is drool-worthy… oh I could have bought so much more!

Monday

Day 2 in Brighton, and shopping, shopping! I had to change into this dress immediately upon getting back to our friend’s house!

It’s the most gorgeous floral fabric, and I love the cut! The back has little white buttons from the neckline to below the waist – adorbs!

P.S. Brighton, I love thee, and I shall return – with much more money saved up to spend on you next time…

Tuesday

Out for lunch in the New Forest today with friends from Australia (who would have guessed my best friend and I would both marry Englishman who were brought up a mere hour and a half apart?).

Yes, those are cows and ponies in the background – they roam free throughout the New Forest – which is more moorland than actual forest, per se…

Love, love this dress – Vintage Dress No. 2 from Brighton. It’s not a colour I would normally wear, but when I tried it on, I was totally won over. It has the best floofy full-circle skirt, too – would look great with a crinoline.

*note to self – buy a crinoline.

Wednesday

Hello, France!! We flew over to France Wednesday morning, then caught the TGV super-fast train out to the East of France to visit my aunt and uncle in their little village – Fontenoy-le-Chateau. Here I am sitting in the windowsill of our room – you can see the canal just outside.

(You can also see my cheeks looking a bit chubbier than normal – all the intense cider-drinking of my 3 1/2 weeks so far in England had been taking its toll. I gained 5kg on the trip! But oh, it was SO worth it… that’s what diets are for, right?)

This is where we spent the rest of the week – and boy did I fall in love with the place, it was divine!

Got my dress from Oxford paired with a thrifted scarf happening in this one.

Thursday

Spent the day wandering around the village, as well as cycling down the canal to a little outdoor restaurant. First time in my life riding a bike without a helmet – those crazy free-spirited French! No helmet laws for you!

Another of my thrift-store finds revamped! P.S. this was taken in the main street of the village – it’s a quiet village 😉

Friday

Snapped today’s photo in front of a big old house which is now a real estate agent, if memory serves me! As in England, the flowers everywhere in France during summer are gorgeous…

Got my lovely lavender dress from Falmouth out and about again today! Also got my borrowed cardi from mum on, again. I really don’t want to give this one back…

Saturday

Ahh, another lovely sunny day in France! Today we went and visited a glass factory where they still make a lot of things by hand, and you can sit and watch the guys work – very cool!

I also managed to get Nick in a photo with me – result!

Bright colours to match the bright summer’s day, today! Though, yes, I am STILL wearing tights. It may be summer, but it’s still not hot!

Sunday

Ahh, back to Paris on the TGV!

Before we left, we had THE most amazing meal! My aunt and uncle took us to lunch with a big group of their Dutch and French friends, where we had a classic French meal – 5 courses plus wine and Espresso… it was possibly the most amazing meal I have ever had in my life.

Sitting in an amazing French restaurant in a little village with Dutch, French and English flying around the table while we ate for 3 hours definitely rates as a top life experience for me.

And that’s week 4! I’ll get around to week 5 in the not-too-distant future… and Paris and London are yet to come!
