A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting the new in.cube8r gallery in Brisbane!
in.cube8r first began in Melbourne, but we are lucky enough to be the location of the second store, located at 1/253 Wickham St in the Valley (that’s Fortitude Valley for the non-locals). This in.cub8r is owned and run by the lovely Vickie, who was happy to show me around, and let me go crazy with the camera!
Filled to the brim with Australian handmade goodness, I was chuffed to see the work of many local Brisvegas artisans that I know from the brisStyle collective!
For those of you who don’t know how in.cube8r works, it’s a little different from a regular boutique. Instead of paying a commission when your work sells, you rent a space – usually a ‘cube’ – and stock it with your work. When it sells, you get the whole profit!
I loved peering into all the little cubes – they were all like miniature worlds in themselves!
And those who’s work doesn’t fit in a cube aren’t left out – there’s lots of wall and hanging space too!
If you’re in Brisneyland, head on down and have a look – and I’m pretty sure you won’t leave empty-handed!

Looks great. Hopefully they’ll expand and open in Perth one day too 🙂
Hey Jess – thanks SO MUCH for showcasing my little shop!!! The space has grown since your last visit, and we will continually evolve over time, as artists change their range & their displays – this shop is giving back the power to the artist, and I’m so glad to be involved!!! Best of luck with the Zine by the way!!!!xxxx
Oooh we have something similar over in Malaysia as well called inQbox! 😀 They had been around for quite a few years. But I was sad to find out that the one in my favorite shopping mall had closed down recently. The only other one I know of is in another shopping mall which is a 1+ hour drive away. 🙁
Lovely pics. I visited the store in Melbourne a couple of days ago and now I’m ummming and aaahing about getting myself a cube!
That drawing of the gorgeous girl is superb! I wonder if we have one of these shops in Sydney – will have to investigate!
Vickie, you’re welcome!
Sam, unfortunately not… at least not yet!! Just Melbs and Bris atm.
Good luck Jacquie!
That is really exciting! I’d LOVE to participate in something like this! We don’t have a shop like this in my city in the US but I can dream. 🙂
