A couple of months ago I featured one of my lovely super-duper sponsors – Stallcart – a great service that helps get crafters and other small biz folk a professional website without the large costs that are usually associated with setting up an ecommerce website.

I was actually really stoked to get a few e-mails from people who saw the post and gave it a go, and were really happy with the result – yay! So today, Neil and I are sharing a few Stallcart success stories…

My friend Melanie from Kimono Reincarnate was one of them.

She says… “before I signed up I was concerned about the level of support that I would or wouldn’t get from Stallcart as well as how flexible it really would be. However the support that Neil has given me has been fantastic, all my questions have been answered so quickly and clearly!

The flexibility has been great too! The best thing about Stallcart is that it is so easy to set up a clean looking store. The fact you can customise so much and adding content is so easy is great too. The clear step-by-step instructions for not just setting up your site but also advice on how to maximise the traffic there as well.

I also love that on the listings facebook and twitter buttons have already been installed as has a “You may also like” section with a couple of photos. I’ve had a great experience with Stallcart. For me it’s been a really economical and easy way of setting up a professional looking website and store.”

Trudie Davies from Coolahbah Charms has a rather snazzy looking site. She said that she had “looked on the web for many years for a clean crisp website that I can create and manage and does not have ugly templates that I am forced to use and I have found it. Before signing up I suppose I was hesitant about the initial outlay and I also wanted to be sure of the sites reliability but as I’ve found these aren’t issues at all.

I am so thankful that as a start-up business I have been able to use Stallcart. I was facing the prospect for spending $5,000 for a website for and now I can spend that money actually promoting my business. Stallcart is great, it is user friendly, bug free and just brilliant for start-up businesses. Stallcart is easy to use and set up, and I also like the fact that Stallcart prompts you to do what needs to be done. So building your shop is broken down into bite sized pieces and for someone that isn’t brilliant with computers this is very good. In a matter of minutes you have a site that is yours, with your own address, that you can edit yourself and it all comes together.”

Mai McKenny of Woodland Belle (how cute are those hair clips?!) says that “I’d absolutely recommend Stallcart! It’s an easy way to set up a professional looking store, and the customer service is excellent! There weren’t many cons to signing up with Stallcart, other than a slightly higher cost than I had been paying for my old shop hosting provider.

However, for the options that Stallcart has, it’s a fair price. The various options for different types of coupon codes is extremely helpful! Options like these are typically only available with more expensive shop-hosting providers. Designing a professional looking store is relatively easy. Stallcart’s core layout is clean and simple, and can be somewhat customised to meet more specific needs. You don’t have to know any coding or complicated web-designing techniques, to set up or update your shop.

The clean, simple layout, no need for html or css knowledge, and the ability to sort your goods into specific collections are all plusses to Stallcart. The creator of Stallcart truly listens to customer needs and requests and is open to improvements and new developments. If you’re considering another non-Etsy store alternative, definitely give Stallcart a try.”

Stallcart is great place to set up your own online shop to take your crafts to a new level – especially if the idea of coding and setting up your own site and online store sends shivers down your spine! One Stallcart customer – Alyce from The Vintage Valley mentioned in the original post – has even left her day job and is now working on her shop full time – woot!

Have a look at Stallcart’s website for more information, or if you have a question, you can leave a comment here and Neil from Stallcart will reply (he’s a very lovely chap!), or you can email him at neil AT stallcart.com. Or, chat to Neil on twitter - @Stallcart
