I get a lot of emails to promote random products on this blog, and as you know, I’m pretty picky when it comes to what I spruik. I also have a ‘no big corporations’ rule.

However, when I was contacted and asked to promote this competition by Sydney Water, I couldn’t help but say yes, because it has a couple of really groovy elements that come together to make it something I can wholeheartedly support – and it’s something I thought a number of you might be interested in taking part in to grow the profile of your art or graphic design business!

So, what’s this all about? Well, Sydney Water have been running this whole tap (TM) promotion recently – the idea is that they are basically promoting/marketing tap water in a similar way that bottled water companies market their ‘holy-water-from-a-pure-mountain-spring’.

As a devoted tap-water drinker (I really DO NOT see the point of paying for water in a bottle when I can just turn a faucet) I thought their campaign was really clever, and I loved how they came from the eco angle – by drinking tap water you’re reducing landfill, transportation (therefore carbon footprint) etc etc.

So, to get to the point of all this – they’ve launched a design competition for the new stainless steel bottles that they’re producing. That way, you can carry your tap (TM) with you (see what they’re doing there? Genius).

They’re asking you to create a design that answers the question:

Why is sustainability important to you?

“Is it about future generations? Is it about making a difference? Tell us your sustainability story, and you could see your design on bottles across Sydney, plus win a place in a design showcase.”

The ex-teacher in me actually thinks this would be an awesome comp to get high-school (or hey, even upper-primary school) students involved in (teachers, what do you reckon?)

You get a pretty rad prize if you win…

If I was an artist/illustrator/designer, I’d be pretty damn excited about the chance to get my work in the Powerhouse Museum!!

If this sounds up your alley, head on over here to find out more and put your entry in. Entries close  16/07/2012. { This comp is only open to NSW residents.}

This is a Rocket Fuel sponsored post.
